Graphic Designing

Visual identity graphic designers work alongside brand stakeholders to produce assets such as logos, typography, colour schemes, and image collections that capture the essence of a brand. Apart from conventional business cards and corporate stationery, designers frequently produce a series of visual brand guidelines (style guides) that outline recommended practices and exhibit visual branding used across different mediums. These guidelines are important to maintain brand uniformity in future implementations.

Marketing designers collaborate with company owners, directors, managers, or marketing experts to craft assets for marketing plans. They may work independently or as part of a creative or in-house team. These designers can specialize in a particular type of medium, such as vehicle wraps or magazine advertisements, or create a wide range of collateral for print, digital, and other mediums. Although previously centred on print, this design discipline now encompasses a more diverse range of digital assets, particularly for employment in content marketing and digital advertising.

The way a user interacts with a device or application is referred to as the user interface (UI). UI design refers to the process of developing interfaces to ensure their usability and the provision of a user-friendly experience. A user interface (UI) includes all components of user interaction, such as the screen, keyboard, and mouse. UI design, on the other hand, focuses on the visual experience of the user and the design of on-screen graphic components such as buttons, menus, micro-interactions, and other features. The responsibility of a UI designer is to strike a balance between aesthetic appeal and technological functionality.

Publication designers collaborate with editors and publishers to design layouts featuring well-curated typography and accompanying artwork, including illustrations, graphics, and photography. These designers can work independently as freelancers, as part of a creative agency, or as in-house designers for a publishing company.

Starting with storyboards, motion graphics designers utilize animation, video, and traditional art to bring their concepts to life. Proficiency in marketing, coding, and 3D modelling can be valuable assets, depending on the industry.

While graphic design, graphic art, and illustration are often used interchangeably, they are distinct disciplines. Graphic designers develop compositions to convey messages and address problems, while graphic artists and illustrators create original artwork. Their creations can range from fine art to decorative pieces to narrative illustrations. Although graphic art and illustration are not considered forms of the graphic design per se, they are frequently used in commercial contexts within the realm of graphic design. As such, it's difficult to discuss one discipline without acknowledging the others.
